From my vantage point, my life appears before me as an overflowing basket of yarn, crammed with skeins of all different colors and sizes, thicknesses and fibers, some tangled into hopeless knots and some woven into projects once begun with great enthusiasm, but since abandoned. Still others sit in original packaging, with nothing more than a fading thought or an idea as to what they will become.
But I know from God's vantage point, all those strands are part of a beautiful tapestry He is weaving out of them all. The pattern He has in mind will use every color, every knot, and every last thread in the basket. He wants to ever-so-carefully untangle all the knots, pick up the threads from projects long-since abandoned, rework the pieces that are full of mistakes and blow the dust off the unopened packages longing to be put to use. He can envision how to transform all of it into a masterpiece, a work of art, something of beauty.
Though He has been at work for some time and the project is nowhere near finished, I invite you in so you too may observe His craftsmanship and perhaps even begin to see the tapestry He is weaving out of your own life.
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
